Charges will not be filed against the Florida mother who chose a bizarre form of punishment on her 3-year-old son. Police aren’t happy with the decision and suggest that DCFkeepsp an eye on the children and to have a safety plan for their future.
According to WFTV, the investigation began Saturday after video surfaced on Facebook of the woman dunking her 3-year-old son’s head in a toilet after he used profanity.
“After interviewing the child, police and the Florida Department of Children and Families recommended that the state attorney file charges against Kaitlyn Wolf, claiming the incident “threatened harm of mental injury due to bizarre punishment.”
But the state attorney’s office said there was no physical abuse or neglect.
Kaitlyn Wolf told Channel 9 she planned to wash out her toddler’s mouth with soap and water but decided to discipline him another way after seeing a child in a film get his head shoved into a toilet.
She said she held her son above the toilet and dipped his head into the water.”
As Reported By Fox News:
Amid their investigation, they said they discovered that the Department of Children and Families had already looked into the matter and found that it “did not rise to the level of child abuse.”
They ultimately sent the video to the State Attorney’s Office in hopes of obtaining a warrant for the woman’s arrest, only to be told that they needed to gather additional information, police said.
The police department said they convened with the state attorney on Tuesday, once again seeking to obtain an arrest warrant.
“A Child Forensic Interviewer interviewed the children. The Leesburg Police Department Detective Sergeant, a State Attorney and the Department of Children and Families investigator were present and witnessed the forensic interview,” police said. “The overall assessment documented by the Forensics Team listed positive findings of threatened harm of mental injury due to bizarre punishment.”
