Times Square Driver Intentionally Drives Into Crowd, ‘Wanted To Kill People’

A crazed man, Richard Rojas, plowed into pedestrians in Times Square killing at least one and injuring nearly 20 people.

Rojas has a history of driving under the influence, though he blew at 0.0 when a test was administered. Drug testing is still under way but they believe, now, that it’s K2 — a synthetic marijuana.

Rojas drove the maroon 2009 Honda Accord into pedestrians in Times Square after having jumped the sidewalk on the west side of Seventh Avenue at 42nd Street, continuing for three blocks before crashing at the northwest corner of 45th Street and Broadway. He eventually attempted to run from the police but was tackled by law enforcement and taken into custody.

According to the New York Post, Rojas intentionally rammed the vehicle into the crowd in a suicide-by-cop attempt.

“You were supposed to shoot me! I wanted to kill them!,” the 26-year-old reportedly said to police during interrogation.6 He also told police he “smoked something” and spoke of the “end of the world.”

The victim who did not survive, Alyssa Elsman, was an 18 year old tourist from Michigan.
