According to The Atlantic, a strange story about MSNBC host Joy Reid has been unfolding for a week. It began when a Twitter user with about 1,000 followers, @Jamie_Maz, dug up what appeared to be homophobic posts on Reid’s defunct blog, the Reid Report. They were similar in nature to posts that Reid apologized for as “insensitive” back in December after @Jamie_Maz brought those to light.
The new round of posts contain a lot of cliche gay jokes about Charlie Crist and others, concerns that “adult gay men tend to be attracted to very young, post-pubescent types, bringing them ‘into the lifestyle,’” and commentary like “part of the intrinsic nature of ‘straightness’ is that the idea of homosexual sex is … well … gross … even if you think that gay people are perfectly lovely individuals.”
Reid denied that the comments were hers, despite apparently showing up on her website via images available on the Internet Archive, the Washington Examiner reported.
“I began working with a cybersecurity expert who first identified the unauthorized activity, and we notified federal law enforcement officials of the breach,” she told the website Mediaite.com on Monday. “The manipulated material seems to be part of an effort to taint my character with false information by distorting a blog that ended a decade ago.”
“Back in 2006 joy read sounded like a very different person on her blog,” Carlson said. “At the time she opposed gay marriage mocked gay people and people she thought were gay. Now given where she is now these are obviously highly embarrassing opinions to have had when the posts were discovered she had a couple of options she could have just apologized,” Carlson added.
“People have changed their opinions all the time and good for them. Why wouldn’t they change their opinions? America has changed is changing so an honest explanation would have been just fine,” Tucker points out.
“We would have defended her in that of course but that’s not what Joey Reid did. Instead, she lied about it she claims she never wrote those blog posts in the first place someone else did she said she’d been hacked sinister agents perhaps employed by Vladimir Putin somehow broke into her blog actively to add the remarks,” Tucker jokes.
No one is buying Reid’s story. No one except NBC, of course.
