Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg recently made it official that he is jumping into the presidential race as one more Democrat…as if there weren’t enough already.
Even though Judge Judy recently publicly stated that Bloomberg is the savior of the country and that he’s the only one who can unite us all, he’s already proposing idiotic policies, like taxing the poor…because they have enough money already, right?
Michael Bloomberg said, “I listen to people who say, ‘Well we don’t want to tax the poor.’ Well, we want the poor to live longer. So that they can get an education and enjoy life. And that’s why you do want to do exactly what a lot of people say you don’t want to do. The question is do you want to pander to those people or do you want to get them to live longer. And there’s just no question if you raise taxes on full sugary drinks, for example, they will drink less.”
And I can’t believe he even brought up the tax on sugary drinks. Once again I’m going to say this, it is not the government’s responsibility to be our nanny and tell us what we can or cannot have.
The Declaration of Independence makes it very clear that we have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness and that these rights are intrinsically from God, not the government, therefore the government shall not infringe upon them.
Look I agree that drinking a 20oz soda isn’t the best thing to do every day, but it is not the government’s role to tell them that. If that person, in the pursuit of happiness wants to consume a large soda, the government should actually see to it that this person is able to that very thing.
“When we raise taxes on the poor, it’s good because then the poor will live longer because they can’t afford as many things that kill them.”
