When I was a kid growing up in the ’90s, there was no band that could compare to Green Day. When it was first released, the album “Dookie” was one of my favorites, and I have continued to be a fan of their music over the years.
But as you well know, politics has a way of destroying your opinion of some of the heroes and idols you admired as a child. This is exactly what is happening once again with the overturning of Roe v. Wade, as the lead singer of Green Day, Billie Joe Armstrong, recently announced during a concert that he is renouncing his US citizenship as a result of the recent Supreme Court decision.
“F**k America. I’m f**king renouncing my citizenship. I’m f**king coming here,’ Armstrong shouted to a London crowd Friday night.
“There’s just too much f**king stupid in the world to go back to that miserable f**king excuse for a country!” the 50-year-old shouted.
Armstrong continued, “Oh, I’m not kidding, you’re going to get a lot of me in the coming days.”
I don’t think that liberals realize that this is exactly what we want. It’s sad that it has come to this, but if they are enemies of the Constitution and our nation, then we don’t want them here. You don’t keep enemies in your house.
What’s most ironic about this is that he has become the very thing that he said that he hated years ago. In the song, “American Idiot”, he sang, “Don’t want to be an American idiot, one nation controlled by the media.” But that is exactly what has happened. He has bought into the propaganda that is pushed by the media. The propaganda that small children inside a womb is not a human being because they are smaller and less developed, or more dependent or live in a different area than you. He’s become an American idiot himself.
So, to Billie Joe Armstrong, I have but two words that are perfect for this announcement, “Good Riddance.”
