Betty Shelby Flees Courthouse After Found Not Guilty

Betty Shelby, the Tulsa police officer who fatally shot Terence Crutcher after she discovered him in his parked car along a highway saying she feared for her safety fled the courthouse Wednesday after a jury found her not guilty.

Body camera footage shows Crutcher, who was high on PCP at the time, walking away with his hands in the air.

A jury, made up of three black people and nine white people, cleared the officer of first degree manslaughter charges.

Shelby is reportedly “elated” with the jury’s decision, her lawyer said.

“She’s ready to get back to her life,” Defense Attorney Shannon McMurray said.
