Hoping to deflect accusations of sexism, Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) has promised to look to women first for a potential running mate should he win the nomination to run for president in 2020. The Senator pulls an obvious 360 adding intentional emphasis on how ‘not sexist’ he really is… to prove he’s not?

“Let me ask you about the big field you are joining. A lot of women, and especially a lot of your women senate colleagues are already running. You are blessed among women in the field right now. If you got the nomination, would you commit to choosing a woman as your Vice Presidential running mate?” Maddow asked Booker.
In response, Booker said it would be “malpractice” not to consider a woman running mate, adding that a woman should occupy the White House right now.
“I believe there should be a woman president right now and we’ve worked very hard to get one, but we have such a great field of leaders,” Booker said. “I think you will rarely see a Democratic ticket anymore without gender diversity, race diversity. I think it is something we should have. I’m not going to box myself in, but should I become it, you know I’ll be looking to women first.”
The Daily Wire wrote that Maddow went on to ask Booker about whether competing for the nomination will overshadow what he wants in public life. Booker said “we have great people running” and that the Democratic Party should support whoever wins.
