BOOM! Judge Orders Biden to Reverse Course on Key Trump Border Policy

The administration of United States President Joe Biden was dealt a political blow earlier this week as a federal judge ordered the Migrant Protection Protocols to be re-implemented at the southern border.

The Biden White House had undone a Trump executive order that came to be known as Remain in Mexico, but Judge Matthew J. Kacsmaryk of the Northern Texas District ruled in favor of the Attorney General Offices of Missouri and Texas.

In his ruling, Judge Kacsmaryk took into account the current state of the southern border, which has fallen into a state of crisis ever since Biden took office and proceeded to undo many of Trump’s efforts to increase border security.

The Department of Homeland Security has admitted that the current influx of migrants, many of whom are fleeing poverty and violence in their Central American homelands, has become unmanageable.

The Migrant Protection Protocols effectively help to manage the situation by ordering asylum seekers to stay in Mexico while they wait for their petitions to be evaluated and processed. The Mexican government struck an agreement with the Trump administration to provide shelter and security to these migrants.

Judge Kacsmaryk noted that the Biden administration has not shown the capacity to manage all asylum seekers; in fact, this inability to secure the border has resulted in an avalanche of illegal border crossings.

Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt, who filed the lawsuit with Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, celebrated the win on social media, tweeting: “Big win for border security!”

“We just won our second immigration lawsuit against the Biden Admin! They unlawfully tried to shut down the legal and effective Remain-in-Mexico program, but Texas and Missouri wouldn’t have it,” Paxton’s office wrote in a tweet. “Together we sued, and just handed Biden yet another major loss!”
