The war in Ukraine has now spanned a full six months. No one projects that a peaceful end is in sight. The bloodshed has been horrific. An estimated 9,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed. Some say as much as times that number of Russian troops have died.
The United Nations estimates that nearly 6,000 Ukrainian civilians have been killed. One might assume that Russia would cut losses and consider their attempts to overtake the neighboring nation a lost cause.
However, that is not and never will be the mindset of Vladimir Putin. The war in Ukraine is far from over. In fact, some experts now believe the bloodiest days still lie ahead. Certainly, the recent reactions of U.S. military advisors suggest bad things on the horizon.
In an urgent report, the Department of State believes that Russia will soon step up assaults against Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure and government facilities. The air strikes will pose an immediate risk to civilians and the civilian infrastructure.
The U.S. Embassy in Kiev is urging U.S. citizens to leave Ukraine immediately. It is suggested that ground departure sources should be the first choice. This is clearly a high-level warning from individuals who have accurate information.
The U.S. response to Putin’s invasion of Ukraine has been another pitiful excuse for foreign policy. Joe Biden’s Ukraine posture is beginning to resemble his debacle in Afghanistan. Certainly, the Ukrainian army has fought bravely.
They have given their lives to defend their country. But the half-hearted support from the United States and other NATO nations has been either toothless or too late. The support provided to Ukraine has been akin to handing someone a loaded gun who is determined to commit suicide.
The agonizing war in Ukraine is an example of complete ineptitude by the individuals entrusted with U.S. military policy. The buck stops at the White House, but others are equally culpable. The Ukraine is yet another example of cowardice and indecisive posturing by Joe Biden.
