California residents…let this be one more warning to leave the state while you still can.
It honestly wouldn’t surprise me if the governor eventually bans people from leaving the state.
California is getting ready to release hardened criminals back into society, including violent criminals.
According to NBC,
With little notice, California on Saturday is increasing early release credits for 76,000 inmates, including violent and repeat felons, as it further trims the population of what once was the nation’s largest state correctional system.
More than 10,000 inmates convicted of a second serious but nonviolent offense under the state’s “three strikes” law will be eligible for release after serving half their sentences. That’s an increase from the current time-served credit of one-third of their sentence.
The same increased release time will apply to nearly 2,900 nonviolent third strikers, the corrections department projected.
Also as of Saturday, all minimum security inmates in work camps, including those in firefighting camps, will be eligible for the same month of earlier release for every month they spend in the camp, regardless of the severity of their crime.
The changes were approved this week by the state Office of Administrative Law, with little public notice. They were submitted and approved within a three-week span as emergency regulations.
The goal in all of this? Well, according to a state Office of Administrative Law spokesperson, “The goal is to increase incentives for the incarcerated population to practice good behavior and follow the rules while serving their time and participate in rehabilitative and educational programs, which will lead to safer prisons.”
Safer prisons.
Did you read that garbage? Safer prisons? How about safer streets? They’re returning convicted violent criminals back to the streets to create “safer prisons”.
I’m sorry, but if you’re a felon, you get what you get. I’m sorry it’s not safe, but that’s the life that they chose to lead. Don’t do the crime and you won’t do the time.
But instead, California thinks that it’s a much better idea to put tens of thousands of violent criminals back on the streets. These numbers include 76,000 inmates. 63,000 of them are violent criminals and 20,000 of them are serving LIFE SENTENCES!
What in the world in running (or not running) through their minds that they come up with this idea?
Well, honestly, there can only be one thing. They need votes. Gavin Newsom is being recalled and they need all the votes that they can get to try and keep him in office.
