Clueless Tourist Gets Mobbed After Climbing Ancient Mayan Temple (VIDEO)

I’m interested in a lot of things and I know that I mentioned that from time to time as I’m writing articles about different topics. One of the things that I am interested in is history and especially ancient civilizations. I think it’s very sad that many things from the past we no longer have with us that we can learn from as far as buildings and monuments and especially something like the Library of Alexandria. God only knows what sort of knowledge was lost in that fire. Maybe it’s for the benefit of mankind that all of that information was burned up, but the fact of the matter stands they will just never know.

I think that one of the most interesting civilizations, not just to me but to many people has to be that of the Mayans. If you ever take the time to really dig into the Mayan civilization and just how far it actually reached, you would be amazed.

But that’s a topic for another day. In Mexico, the Mayan Temple of Kukulcan in Chichen Itza is a tourist attraction for those interested in the Mayans. The site attracts millions of people every year. It’s a neat thing to see, but one thing that you’re not allowed to do is climb the temple.

Well, just try telling that to the clueless woman who actually did that very thing. People didn’t take it very well, either.

The New York Post reported,

An angry mob in Mexico poured water on a clueless female tourist, hurled insults at her and demanded that she be locked up after she ascended the ancient Mayan pyramid and was filmed dancing on the stairs.

The unidentified woman, who is said to be a Spanish national, sparked an outrage Monday when she ignored the rules barring visitors from climbing Mayan Temple of Kukulcán in Chichén Itzá, which was named in 2007 one of the New 7 Wonders of the World by UNESCO.

After reaching the top, she gyrated her hips and waved her arms in celebration, drawing loud jeers from a large group of tourists observing her wild antics from the ground. Some of them were heard calling the disrespectful visitor an “a–hole” and an “idiot” in Spanish.

This isn’t the first time that this has happened and I’m sure it probably won’t be the last. There are people who lack basic common sense all over the world.
