It’s so outlandish that it might actually work! Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, a possible candidate for President of the United States of America, has devised a brilliant strategy that would significantly increase Republican representation in the House of Representatives.
To accomplish this, DeSantis is proposing that the state of Florida adopt a new congressional map, which some anticipate will restore many Republican seats to the House of Representatives, effectively restoring the Republican majority in at least one chamber of Congress.
“The DeSantis administration formally submitted its plan Wednesday to the GOP-controlled Legislature where leaders in that chamber have already signaled they would accept whatever proposal was offered to them,” Politico reported. “Wednesday’s move is a signal of the power DeSantis wields in the now-Republican-dominated state. Redistricting in Florida may help shape the composition of the U.S. House for at least the next decade.”
If this 20R-8D FL map passes and withstands court challenges, it could net Republicans four additional seats, entirely wiping out Dems' national redistricting gains thus far. https://t.co/7MU6BaPrDM

Honestly, I’m not really sure how I feel about this. It’s a matter that I’ve never looked into much personally. I know that the Democrats are always trying to pull some redistricting crap, especially in New York to try and give themselves some more seats, and while I’d like to welcome more Republicans into Congress, is this the best way to go about it? Is this the same shady tactic that Democrats keep trying?
At the same time, I’d like to just say “Eff em'” because they had the audacity to impeach President Trump not once, but twice…and both times for a big nothingburger.
There is no hope of Democrats playing nicely and not doing something because we don’t do it to them. Just look at the last 5 years and all the crap they’ve tried to pull and have pulled. Maybe DeSantis is on the right path and we just need a “hostile” takeover like this while we can get it.
