Many may have missed the acting award just handed down. This award wasn’t a shiny statue acknowledging a masterful performance. While Jussie Smollett’s act was truly marvelous, it was a hideous sham perpetrated on the American people.
For his staged portrayal, a sickening scam playing on the hearts of compassionate people, Smollett will contemplate his performance behind bars. The humiliated Empire actor was sentenced in Cook County Court for his fake hoax.
Smollett was convicted on five of six counts for lying to police about a supposed attack. The actor tried to stage a hate crime targeted at any American who supported President Donald Trump. His sham backfired. The other day, a judge pronounced Smollett’s award.
The judge stressed how Smollett had embarrassed himself and others. There is no evidence that these bridges can ever be mended. In reading the sentence, the judge insisted that Smollett had exemplified a narcissistic personality. But the judge also seemed to feel sorry for Smollett.
Nonetheless, that didn’t give him reason to cut the hoaxer much of a break. Part of Smollett’s sentencing will be a 150-day stay behind bars in the Cook County Jail. Now, because of an outburst we’ll describe for you, Smollett has been transferred to the psyche ward.
Certainly, part of what got him “committed” was this scripted courtroom charade. “I am not suicidal, I am not suicidal,” Smollett vehemently proclaimed. He stood from his chair and began using exclamatory hand gestures to somehow reinforce the sincerity of his plea.
This was so obvious that it was laughable. He was an actor playing a role, but doing a bad job of it. This performance was so obviously scripted that it was nauseating to watch. Smollett went on to declare the fears that African-Americans have endured for the last 400 years.
He bemoaned the harmful and discriminatory acts leveled against the LGBTQ community. Smollett continued to proclaim his innocence, despite overwhelming evidence that he was guilty. Oddly enough, he repeated again and again that he’s not suicidal.
Smollett continued to humiliate himself with every word he uttered. Clutching his hands together, as if he was praying for mercy, Smollett repeatedly announced his respect for the judge’s decision. Smollett must have rehearsed this charade a hundred times in front of a mirror.
All the while, this narcissistic, self-absorbed person made a spectacle of himself and of the court. Smollett ended his crazed oratory with another shout, “I am not suicidal!” As Smollett was ushered out of the courtroom, he added a curtain call to his sham performance.
His fist held high in defiance, Smollett shrieked, “I am not suicidal, I am not suicidal, and I am innocent!” The fact that he kept repeating that he wasn’t suicidal was either an indication that he is or a complete fabrication. He also proclaimed his innocence more than once, which he is not.
His shouts were likewise weak and shallow. This entire performance was equally weak and shallow, just like Jussie Smollett. Watching this orchestrated act gave little indication that it was little more than an actor trying to give some kind of Oscar-winning performance. He failed.
The judge didn’t buy it, and the American public isn’t buying it either. When Jussie Smollett finishes his sentence, maybe he’ll still have a career as an actor. However, he should refocus his auditions from drama to comedy because Jussie Smollett is a joke. Too bad the last laugh is on him.
