You may recall the grizzly discovery that was made on the grounds of a former residential school in Canada where 251 unmarked graves were found containing the remains of children.
It truly seems like something you’d see in a chilling horror film, but this happened.
Yahoo News Canada reported,
The bodies of the 215 children were discovered during a search of the grounds of the former residential school, the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation announced Thursday. A statement from the First Nation said that the missing children, some as young as three years old, were undocumented deaths.
Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc Kukpi7 (Chief) Rosanne Casimir told CBC’s Daybreak Kamloops on Friday that more than symbolic gestures are needed to address the tragedy.
“It’s all good and well for the federal government to make gestures of goodwill and support regarding the tragedy,” Casimir said. “There is an important ownership and accountability to both Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc and all communities and families that are affected. And that needs to happen and take place.”
The news that remains were found at the former Kamloops residential school breaks my heart – it is a painful reminder of that dark and shameful chapter of our country’s history. I am thinking about everyone affected by this distressing news. We are here for you. https://t.co/ZUfDRyAfET

As tragic as that is…it gets worse, so brace yourselves.
Members of Cowessess First Nation in Canada’s Saskatchewan province are grieving after a gruesome discovery. 751 unmarked graves were found after the launch of a ground-penetrating radar search by Cowessess that’s part of a larger investigation taking place around the country.
The site, located a couple of hours from Regina, was the former home of the Christian-run Marieval Residential School. Children were forced to attend the public school beginning in the 19th century. Students were not allowed to speak their native language and were required to convert to Christianity. It’s said that many were physically abused as well.
Cowessess First Nation members are, of course, upset by the finding, both because of its colonial history and due to the many unmarked graves. Not only did massive numbers of young family members die, but their gravestones were also removed by unknown criminals.
The startling new finding comes on the heels of another gravesite discovery in Canada. At a residential school for indigenous students in Kamloops, British Columbia, an investigation uncovered 215 bodies of unidentified children.
