Kellyanne Conway Tells Dems What They Can Do With Their Subpoena

House Democrats, frustrated over their inability to actually nail the president or his administration with any of the crimes of fantasy that they’ve concocted to delegitimize Trump, are now on a path to taking out the president’s most outspoken defender. She’s Kellyanne Conway, official Counselor to the president, and Democrats say she’s guilty of defying the Hatch Act – a very old law meant to prohibit government officials from engaging in partisan activity. This week, Democrats subpoenaed Conway to appear before the House Oversight Committee to answer for her “crimes.”

She told them to take a hike.

“I’m concerned that there’s such a weaponization and politicization of this thing called the Hatch Act,” she said on Sean Hannity’s Fox News program on Monday. “They’re not going to silence me. They’re not going to take away my First Amendment rights.”

In a letter to House Oversight Chairman Elijah Cummings on Monday, White House lawyers told the congressman that he had no right to compel Conway to testify.

“As you know, in accordance with longstanding, bipartisan precedent, Ms. Conway cannot be compelled to testify before Congress with respect to matters related to her service as a senior adviser to the president,” reads the letter. “The Department of Justice has advised me that Ms. Conway is absolutely immune from compelled congressional testimony with respect to matters related to her service as a senior adviser to the president.”

The accusations against Conway were generated by the Office of the Special Counsel (which is unrelated to Robert Mueller’s office) in June. In a blistering report, the office accused Conway of “disparaging Democratic presidential candidates while speaking in her official capacity during television interviews and on social media.” The report recommended that Conway be fired for daring to speak ill of Cory Booker and Beto O’Rourke, which is one of the sillier bones that Democrats have sunk their teeth into.

At the hearing, unattended by Conway, the ranking Republican on the committee said the motives of the Democrats were blatantly obvious.

“This meeting is merely politics,” said Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH). “They targeted her because she’s effective.”

The Democrats have been taking a posture that is increasingly in conflict with the First Amendment, so their attempts to silence Conway come as no surprise. Still, it’s always good to know that this president puts up with absolutely zero nonsense from these degenerates. We’re sure they’ll have a very serious “discussion” about doing something about it next week before realizing there’s absolutely nothing they CAN do about it. Other than whine and complain, and let’s face it, they were going to do that anyway.
