According to the radical left’s interpretation of events on January 6, 2020 in the US Capitol, it was an insurgency. During the “stop the stealing” protests, there was a lot of violence. It was a harrowing experience. However, it was not an insurrection.
On January 6, there was nothing that looked like an insurrection at all. Only a few of the protesters made bad decisions. Those responsible for their terrible choices should be made accountable. The vast majority of those charged with breaking and entering the U.S. Capitol Building did not, however.
In fact, the Capitol Police opened the doors for them. Video that shows this happening will now be used as evidence in court. The video was professionally edited without omitting or changing any of the critical details. It will help explain what was truly going on.
A team of high-profile lawyers and legal experts are involved. Capitol Police can be seen opening the upper west terrace doors into the U.S. Capitol. No one forces their way in. Any fair-minded judge must, in light of this visual evidence, drop any charges alleging to forcible entry.
This video could also create a domino effect that would question the legal validity of other charges. If someone is essentially “invited into” a secure building by law enforcement, a strong argument could be made against any type of trespass charges.
The video will be presented as evidence during the trials of Brady Knowlton and Patrick Montgomery. Knowlton and Montgomery have been charged with felony “Obstruction of an Official Proceeding.” With this new evidence, a huge portion of the prosecution’s case could evaporate.
It will be extremely difficult to prove intent if a person was welcomed into the building. Alan Dershowitz, a well-known Harvard Law Professor, explained why he believes these cases should now be dropped. Dershowitz thinks the video is extremely convincing.
He insists that “in the very least, the video shows that a reasonable person could believe that he or she was not being stopped or prevented from going in.” Dershowitz went on to discuss Supreme Court cases that involved defendants simply doing what police told them to do.
He used an example of a police officer directing traffic at a lighted intersection. If the light is red, but the officer instructs a driver to move through the intersection, no judge or jury would ever convict the driver of running a red light.
It may seem like a simplistic example, but it’s true. No one could rightfully be charged with forcible entry, or obstruction for that matter, if a law enforcement officer opened the door for them. The ridiculousness of the idea is astounding.
However, that bizarre similarity has materialized in many of the cases developing from the events of January 6. There is growing speculation that many of those who breached the Capitol did so with the blessing of law enforcement.
Sure, most of these people made dumb choices. Nevertheless, they did not forcibly breach the U.S. Capitol. January 6 was not an insurrection. It was, however, a wildly chaotic protest that obviously got out of control. Again, people did some dumb things on that Wednesday in January 2020.
What began as a peaceful march towards the U.S. Capitol at 12:00 pm soon escalated. However, much of what happened on that afternoon is not being truthfully reported. People were angry over the illegitimate election results. They had a right to be.
But the hours after the first protesters headed towards the Capitol did not happen like Americans have been told. It’s been a lie. If more videos can be released, it will prove that January 6 was nothing close to an insurrection. In fact, it may have been an orchestrated hoax.
