The Olympics are over once again and for the most part, I don’t even care.
I did happen to catch a few good moments, but I’m not about this new world of sports where politics is too involved.
One of those good moments that did happen though which I happened to just catch on YouTube belongs to Sydney McLaughlin.
This woman is perhaps the fastest female athlete of all-time.
Most of us haven’t been watching the Olympics this year because, well…it’s a mess. But if you’re like me, you’ve been checking out a few clips here and there of the extraordinarily gifted athletes to see how they performed.
One of these phenomenal athletes is Sydney Mclaughlin. She recently set a world record for the 400m hurdle event by clocking in at under 52 seconds and thereby setting a new world record.
But that wasn’t enough. She didn’t stop there. Sydney then broke her own record with an amazing time of 51.46 seconds, nearly putting the record out of reach.
But it gets better still.
Mclaughlin then demonstrated what it means to be a true Christian and a true American. She proudly held up the American flag and thanked God for her achievements.
“I don’t deserve anything. But by grace, through faith, Jesus has given me everything. Records come and go. The glory of God is eternal.”

If you haven’t seen her performance yet, check it out here:
Right behind McLaughlin was her friend and teammate Dalilah Muhammad, who has been a very important part of her career. These two lift each other up and inspire one another. This is the way it should be. Competition is good and health, but it should be friendly competition where they want each other to succeed. Prior to this year, Muhammad had the edge on McLaughlin, but she kept pushing for the gold and she got it.
Like I already mentioned, the best thing about this is their patriotism and McLaughlin’s praise of God.
All of this almost makes me want to watch the Olympics to see what else is to come, but nah…screw their political agenda.
