A scary situation happened on Wednesday as President Trump was flying back to his home in Palm Beach, Florida.
After approximately 30 minutes into the flight, one of the engines on his private place failed and the plane was forced to turn around and make an emergency landing.
Thankfully, this was a very experienced pilot and the plane was equipped with four engines so everything turned out alright, but I’m sure that it was a scary thing to experience.
Politico reported,
Former President Donald Trump’s plane made an emergency landing on Saturday evening following his speech at a Republican National Committee-hosted donor retreat in New Orleans, according to two people familiar with the matter.
The plane was in the air for between 20 and 30 minutes before one of the engines failed and the pilot of the private plane decided to turn around and return to the New Orleans airport, one of the sources said. The plane was en route to Palm Beach, Fla., where Trump resides at his Mar-a-Lago estate.
Audio of the communications between the pilot and the air traffic control tower revealed that the landing was described as “emergency in nature,” according to the source, who had been briefed on the recording.
Once the plane was on the ground, the RNC scrambled and reached out to a donor and found the former president another plane. Trump eventually landed in Palm Beach around 3 a.m. Sunday.
Call me silly, but I’m uneasy about getting on planes because I know that while on a plane, everything is completely out of my control. If someone hijacks the plane, if something on the plane fails, or if the pilot is demented and decided to crash it…I have no say in the matter and my fate is sealed.
On the other side of the coin, I am a Christian and I know that ultimately God is sovereign and in control, but that doesn’t make it easy to give up all control and put your life in the hands of one man in the cockpit.
