Political pundits believe Joe Biden earned the Democrat Party nod as the 2020 presidential candidate because of his eight-year tenure as VP under Barack Obama. Most seriously feel he is nothing more than a puppet for another Obama term.
However, even the former President of the United States continues to question his former Vice President’s competence. Many will remember the report claiming the President Obama cautioned at Joe’s penchant for screwing things up. We politely paraphrase, of course.
Well, the other day, Obama weighed in on the current crisis at the U.S. southern border. He was anything but flattering to his former VP. Obama actually took issue with the job the Biden administration is doing to handle the latest migrant catastrophe.
One might think that a former president, someone who donned a “Joe and Barack” friendship bracelet, might be more reserved in his condemnation. He wasn’t. Former President Obama insisted that the current status quo at the southern border was “unsustainable”.
“Immigration is tough. It always has been because, on the one hand, I think we are naturally a people that wants to help others. And we see tragedy and hardship and families that are desperately trying to get here so that their kids are safe, and they’re in some cases fleeing violence or catastrophe. At the same time, we’re a nation state. We have borders. The idea that we can just have open borders is something that … as a practical matter, is unsustainable.”
One has to be alarmed at the brevity of a situation. Especially when an old friend condemns the strategy a member of his own party, and best buddy, is using to address it. Unsustainable is a kind way of saying this cannot continue without even more devastating consequences.
We may never be able to dig out from under the wave of illegal immigrants Joe Biden has spewed all across the country. In speaking to Robin Roberts on Good Morning America, Obama insisted that, while Joe had a “big heart”, the administration needed to get serious.
Anyone paying attention can clearly see the border situation navigates from one crisis to the next. This is a perfectly orchestrated crisis. There has been one major catastrophe at the southern border every single month since Joe Biden took the oath of office last January.
Record waves of illegal crossings have been punctuated by a steady increase in the number of inhumane debacles created by Joe Biden policies. This latest jab at his former VP stands in a long line of disparaging comments by the former president.
It’s as if Barack Obama knows well that Joe Biden is not competent enough to be the leader of the free world. However, he also knows that any legacy left behind by Biden’s incompetent presidency will bleed downward onto his own place in history.
The former president was quoted as being worried about such a thing during the 2020 campaign. It’s as if the former president knew there was a strong chance his former vice-president would screw up. It seems good-old Joe is exceeding even the worst expectations.
Nevertheless, even Obama couldn’t have predicted how often, and to what magnitude, this could happen. As we creep near the end of Joe Biden’s first year in office, everyone in the Democrat Party is holding their collective breath.
Joe Biden is screwing up the COVID strategy, piloted a total debacle in Afghanistan, triggered dangerous inflation, and created a colossal crisis at our southern border. Could it even get worse? One has to think the odds are good that it will, especially when your former boss continues to publicly throw you under the bus.
