When it comes to thinking about who the top actors of our modern times are, there are several that come to mind for me. I think of Sean Connery, George Clooney, Tom Cruise, Leonardo DiCaprio as well as several others.
Another actor who I actually would put in the top two is Tom Hanks. He has made so many wonderful movies in his career that we all know and love.
Two movies that I normally watch every year with my wife are You’ve Got Mail and Sleepless in Seattle. Other great movies of his that I really like are Catch Me If You Can, The Terminal, The Da Vinci Code, and The Green Mile.
But according to Tom Hanks himself, he says that he’s only made four movies which he thought were “pretty good”. Four? That’s it? I beg to differ. However, he didn’t mention which four he thought were “pretty good”, so all we can do is speculate.
So when I think about which are really the best of the most and most notable, here are the four that I have come up with:
- The Green Mile
This movie has to be one of the all-time best Tom Hanks movies because it was really so incredible. There aren’t many movies that I like to watch multiple times anymore, but this is definitely one of them. I think it is wonderfully crafted and the actors that they used for the movie couldn’t be more perfect. - Saving Private Ryan
I’m going out on a limb here to suggest that this one may be in the top four because I’ve never actually seen the movie. There are some movie genres that I’ve never really been interested in watching and war movies is one of them. There’s no real reason why other than I’m just not interested, the same way that I’m not interested in superhero movies. But I do know that this is a legendary movie of his, so I would suspect that he would put it in his four “pretty good” movies. - Cast Away
This is another iconic movie of his. There isn’t a lot of talking, but there doesn’t have to be for this movie to be great. There is enough going on to keep viewers captivated throughout the movie. - Forrest Gump
How can we not mention Forrest Gump? This movie is great in every way. It’s another one of those movies that I have watched multiple times. I think thanks to woke culture this movie would be impossible to make, but I’d rather get rid of woke culture than this movie.
What do you think the four “pretty good” movies on his list would be?
